If you go to a wedding ceremony but not the reception should you still take a wedding present?

Are you actually invited to the reception and not going, or is it one of those 'everyone can come and watch me get married but I'm not feeding you' things? That would make a difference to me.

Also, you never actually NEED to give a present, so the biggest question is, do you want to?

If you were invited to the reception - I think you should get a present, but if you were only invited to the ceremony then no - you dont have too but can if you like.

I would give a card but no present. If you want to I guess you can, noone says no to a present.

I wouldnt personally if I wasnt invited to the recepton..Not sure of my reasons why, but it feels a bit....um presumtios on there part to expect gifts

Saying that though, all the weddings and recepyions Ive been to, I was an honoured guest. I spend the most I can afford on a pressie as all the weekings Ive attended have had open bars and divine food...
But lots of fun fun fun,,,

My cousins wedding, she decided to invite al us 'younger people'shes only 3yrs older to me, stay and party, we all had a blast in her monster penthouse with spa and pool..We all stil grin abou that night...it was CRAZT

I wouldn't if I was just going to see the ceremony. I would had I been invited to the reception but couldn't go for whatever reason and could only go to the ceremony.
I would actually have never thought to take a present if I was just going along to the first bit, a few people came to mine that weren't invited to the reception and I never expected a gift from them.
