Apparently there are free Antivirus programs out there that you can download? Is that true and if so can someone recommend me the best one please.

Hi original.gif I have avast free one and I'm really happy with it.
Some other free ones I've took a lot of memory to run, but this one seems pretty unobtrusive and it was easy to download.
I did a bit of research into them and Avast was rated quite highly in terms of picking up viruses, and it has found two viruses so far while I've been browsing the net. The only thing I hate is it asks me what I want to do with the virus its found, eg. move it to vault, heal it, delete etc. I dont know! lol

I also like Avast. I find it to be very good. I used it for years.

Also Microsoft Security Essentials seems to be okay as well, but I have only just started using it. I'll probably go back to Avast though. I was just trying out something new.

I've been using Microsoft Security Essentials on advice from here. I can't believe all the years I wasted money on software when you can get it for free!
