A couple of weeks ago I iced my sons birthday cake using Wilton Vanilla Whipped icing (the one you add iced water to). The icing started off ok but literally melted all over the cake so the icing didnt hold the shapes I made using the decorative nozzle I used. I've used this icing before with no problems. It was a moderately warm day so I wondered if the heat affected it?
Anyway, I dont like using the stock standard Icing sugar from the supermarket as its too sweet and everyone always comments on the taste of the wilton icing. Can anyone recommend any other similar brands that will hold its shape better or perhaps tell me what I have done wrong? I am baking my daughters cake in 4 weeks time. PS I did follow the instructions re the amount of water I added too |
