Hi all just joining. We are having our 20week scan on thursday (my Birthday) so excited. My partner also felt the bub move for the first time tonight so he is so much more excited. Looking forward to hearing all your stories as we get closer.

Welcome kate882!!

Ooby - did you decide on a place for your babymoon? What about Whitsundays, so beautiful there and not as far as Fiji or Thailand! I have only put on 3KG's since I have gotten pregnant.. OB says I have small frame so I will probably stack it on closer to bub's birth.. lucky for me unsure.gif ..

EZ86 - I dont blame you for not taking it from the receptionist! I had a pretty bad appt last wk at scan and am kicking myself for not speaking up!

AB-Happy Bday for last week, hope you are feeling better.

Jaymic- I am not sure what bubs feels like moving around in there either. U/S tech mentioned something about me having anterior placenta, but I have no idea really what that means bc she neglected to explain and my OB has not mentioned it to me. I have read it on here before.. but does that mean I will never feel bubs move during whole pregnancy or just in first two trimesters? I guess I should look it up on internet.

AFM- Thanks for all the advice on whether to have amnio or not. I think after consulting family and DH I have decided not to have it. With my risk of being 1:10,000 I think odds are pretty good that all is fine. I wish they wouldnt scare you so much just to cover themselves it is ridiculous!

Ooby - For SPD I can only recommend you see a good chiro who has experience in treating SPD (ask on EB in your state). I did that before I was pregnant and have been seeing mine every 2-4 weeks and I have nearly no pain at all. By this time with my last babies I could barely walk or roll over in bed.

AFM - I'm doing that stupid glucose test for GD today. Really not happy about it. First of all I'm starving already & then I'll have to waste 3 hours sitting in that waiting room when my house is a mess and today I've got the kids in childcare and I could actually get some stuff done.
So right now I'm cranky & hungry sad.gif
Oh and DH says I'm obsessed with finding a name (I know he is right) so as of yesterday he is refusing to discuss any names rant.gif
This afternoon I'm looking at our No. 1 choice primary school for DD#1 for next year. She so needs to start school... driving me crazy at home.

Hi everyone,
I had my 20 wk scan this morning and all was going well until the dr found a problem in one of the babies kidneys. It has much too much fluid inside and to cut a long story short there are drainage issues and the bub may need surgery! Not what I wanted to hear! We're trying to see this as a little bump along the way and I know that all will be fine but it's just not something we were expecting! Everything else was perfect and although we didn't find out the sex both my husband and I think we saw boy parts wink.gif
Good luck to everyone else having scans, I really enjoy reading how you're all going

Claire- when I have my scan in just over a week they will be taking a close look at my babies kidneys as well as heart andvsome other major organs due to the 2 vessel cord so I too am worrying about them finding something wrong but as you said it's just a bump on the way

thanks for your support, it is very nerve racking. All the best for next week, I just keep reminding myself that there's so much that they can do these days to fix these things

I had my check up with my local doctor and everything is measuring up (belly size, uterus etc) and in fact she has suggested that I aim for no weight gain from now on. Not to starve myself, but to eat healthy and take my vitamins.
Apparently because I am 89kg (started out 85kg) and am 175cm tall, I am classed as overweight and bubs will get plenty of goodness without me gaining weight.
So I am very happy to hear this original.gif

No more worrying about gaining weight, I can relax and just eat normally original.gif

Sorry to hear that clair. It's always hard when you are expecting nothing to be wrong and then they find something.

AFM: I already have my GD results back from this morning. My level after 2 hours was elevated sad.gif which means I have GD again with this pregancy (I had it with #1 but not #2) and they are now getting me organised to see a diabetes educator and I'm in for a few lovely months of finger pricking.

On the plus side... I love my DH. After my test I messaged him (because he wouldn't talk to me about baby names anymore) and told him that I think we should go back to a name we picked when I only a few weeks pg. He then rang me to see how the test went etc and first said no to the name. Then he sent me a message a bit later saying he is happy with whatever name I want to pick for the baby as long as our little man is healthy. So I guess we found our name then but so we don't jinx it I'll keep it a secret.
