love it, love your flaps
Can I cook a cake in a baking dish? You know the ceramic style ones that you'd do a lasagne in?
It's DDs birthday tomorrow and we've had heaps of late rsvps so I've got to make a bigger cake and don't have a big cake tin!!

It won't be a great heat conductor.
Can you make the cake you wanted to and then make a couple of batches of cupcakes?

Does this effectively hide my thunder?
Can you make two of the same cake then ice them together or make a funky shape?

Or just cut smaller pieces?

This. Layer them with some cream in the middle if they're round, or stick them together and ice as a whole if they're square/rectangle.

Make 2 cakes, but only use one for the actual candles and singing. Then when it comes time to cut and serve, bring out the second one.

girls girls girls.. that's all he knows how to make!
I don't like cooking in aluminium, non-stick or silicone, so I mostly bake in glass pyrex dishes or lasagne type dishes. They work fine original.gif

I have baked cakes in ceramic baking dishes before and it has worked out fine. If you are worried about the dish not being a great conductor, you could maybe heat it before you put the mix in? Though I have never done this.
