For me, segmented fruit like oranges can be an issue, so can some stone fruits or capsicum. Steak can be an issue, but well cooked (not over cooked) steak that is a good cut is ok, in small pieces chewed well. I usually just steal a little bit of hubbies, because I cant eat a whole one) White Bread, especially really highly processed white bread is a no no, scones are a no no, rice can be an issue, needs a lot of sauce if it is sushi. Fried rice is a no no. Overcooked meat, or badly cooked meat is an issue. A Little turkish bread is fine, as is some focaccia. Popcorn can be an issue - but I look at every piece, or eat one piece at a time to make sure I am not eating to kernelly a bit. Bubbly drinks like softdrink or champagne can get caught in the pouch below the band too.
Everyone is different though.
It is hard for me to eat when I am having dinner with friends, because you are talking, and you forget to chew properly, or enough. I prefer to eat vegetarian when I am out because of the issue of incorrectly cooked meats (bad cooks, not salmonella).
I find I eat different foods now, foods I did not eat before. Food tastes different as well. You appreciate good food, why fill your small little pouch with sh*t food that tastes blech, when you can fill it with beautiful tasting good for you and tastes good food?
You will have to learn how to eat again, you start off like a baby with fluids and go from there. It is not easy, by any means, no matter what anyone tells you, it is not the easy way out. Once your mind is retrained, in so many ways, to not cook as much, not eat as much, and that you are not that large person you were before, no matter what you see, it is wonderful and will hopefully change your life for the better.
You know what the annoying thing my friend and I both find, is that the pain is in your upper chest, not your stomach when something does get caught!!!
Pregnancy with a lap band can cause some issues as well, however, I did not have heartburn this time, and only put on a fraction of the weight I gained the first pregnancy.
