Does anyone know, does the mini pill help with PMS/heavy bleeding?


I can no longer take the combined pill because of an auto immune condition, my OB has recommended the mini pill for contraception. I was happy with that until it occurred to me today that the 14 years I took combined pills had less to do with not wanting babies and more to do with not wanting to be a crazy person for 3 days a month and then spend the next week in bed

i went on the mini pill after my first baby, it took a good 3 months for my body to get used to it and i had a period every 2 weeks until i did :/
I all so fell pregnant whilest taking it (and i was taking it correctly. everyday at the same time). I got the mirina this time round so waiting to see how that goes as i've only had it in a month

The first time I took the mini pill it was fantastic. The second time it was horrendous. Bleeding was light but the PMS lasted for two whole weeks with quite severe nausea. I'm now using implanon and it's going well. Other people have a terrible time with it.

Unfortunately not only do we all react differently to these things but the effects can be different at different times in our own lives so all you can do is give it a try.

I had pretty much constant light bleeding on the mini pill. Sex life went out the window. Didn't work for me. I've just had a mirena put in so fingers crossed.

I have just come off the mini pill after having DS (so was on it for nearly 2years. No bleeding or anything for that whole time. i don't think I had any effects, maybe lack of sex drive but that could be something to do with lack of sleep too!

The mini pill didn't change the beeling for me at all. I don't really get PMS.

I have the Mirena now and I haven't had a period for 2 years, that would certainly help with heavy bleeding.
