As per the title, working full time Monday to Friday 8am - 4pm and looking for a new job, when do you do interviews? I only get 30 minutes lunch, so definitly not enough time to get to interviews, do interviews and get back.

Also, if I were to hand in my resignation, would I be able to be more open about attending interviews?
Is it acceptable to say "I have an interview" and go off to an interview provided its not hampering my workload?

Silly obvious questions but I'm not too sure about whats aceptable.
Thanks
Colleen

"doctors appointment" is the usual standby isn't it?

I would say I need an hour off to attend "an appointment" and leave it at that, and try and tack it onto the end of my lunch break.

I always just duck out if I have to and say I have 'an appointment' or start a little late/ finish early to get to the interview.

I havea really great manager at the moment, who know's I'm casually on the hunt though and accepts I may need to attend an interview occasionally.

You say "I need to take x amount of time off on x day as I have an appointment."

Simple.

Don't give your employer the opportunity to make life difficult for you if they feel that way inclined.

Uhm, yes, you need time off for an appointment. You can take a couple of hours off as annual leave if they can't accommodate you at the start/end of the working day as well. I've found potential employers very flexible and willing to schedule interviews for before/after work hours as well as during the lunch break.

I would go the 'appointment' route also.

What fresh hell is this?
That's what sick leave is for.

If your conscience kicks a bit at this, remind yourself that there is obviously something about your current job that is causing you mental angst (otherwise you wouldn't be looking for a new job) and it can be very important to protect your mental health original.gif
