The fembos go so overboard.
OP I find it very strange that your son is ill today and you are more concerned about whether your deceased wife had a blood test almost 6 years ago.

I would suggest an urgent appointment with your GP to discuss your concerns and your current mental state.

The 'routine' antenatal screening is HepB, Rubella, Group & Antibodies, and Syphillis. Whilst HIV testing is often requested, it isn't protocol for all facilities. Given that many patients are seen by their GP first before antenatal clinic/OB, I will say that not all GP's are as stringent with testing as others.
You would need to apply via the Freedom of Information Act via the hospital's Medical Records Dept. to access your wife's records.
Alternatively, simply have your child tested to satisfy your concerns.

any idea if any of the midwifes frequent these forums? I am new here. Just joined.

You may be suprised by the range of medical professionals who have read your questions and possibly even answered it.

If you read the responses you will see that your question has been answered. No one here can know if your wife had an HIV test or not. They are not compulsory for anyone.

Take your son to a doctor if you have reason to believe his current illness in not just a nasty flu. If you have concerns about risk of HIV transmitted by your wife ask to have your son's blood tested as well as your own.

Then there is no logical leap to HIV. Why do you think HIV? What would make you think that?

Exactly this. Most parents wouldn't just jump straight to HIV.

It was among the standard blood tests done by my GP when i was first pregnant. Its written on my yellow card that I am hepC & HIV neg. If you have her yellow card form when she was pregnant it might be on that. If not it would be better to contact the Dr or GP she saw at the start of her pregnancy.

I'm curious as to why HIV is your first thought for a persistent cough/cold when there are plenty of other reasons for something like that? Was your wife at risk for contracting the disease which is why you're concerned now? Ask the doctor you're currently seeing for a test and see if they can pass on the results to your regular doc for when they return.

Hi,
I am unsure if you will be able to receive the answers to your questions. If you have rung the hospital concerned, then they will be the only ones who will be able to answer your questions. Any member who is a midwife on the forums will also not be able to ascertain your deceased wife's medical history. Also, each hospital and state will have a different way of pre-natal care, so again, nobody will be able to give you this information on the forums.

A GP should be able to perform any tests necessary on your son even if they are not your usual GP. If you have serious concerns about his health, the GP is the one you need to be speaking to. I also think it is best we now close this thread to ensure you are not given any misinformation.

ETA, I have also removed all references to the specific hospital mentioned in case of misinformation being given directly to the OP.
