So I am thinking of trying to follow the weekday dinner recipes in this months issue and am wondering if anyone else does this and how realistic the $67.80 price tag they put on it is???

Thanks for your replies, I already menu plan but just trying to find some cheaper recipes to help out at the moment.

I've looked at those before and the prices seemed pretty realistic so long as you had spices etc in your pantry, and didn't have any really big eaters.

Some of them use up 'leftovers' to make the next night's meal so there's really only enough food for 4 people to have one serving each and nothing for lunches etc.

Fair enough, our kids aren't eating adult portions yet so 4 servings suits us and i can always add a bread stick from woolies to add bulk for only a dollar more.

no it's per week for 5 dinners, I just wonder if buying for these dinners really is that cheap or do they say that a teaspoon of something is only worth 5cents and work it out that way or is it actually a realistic price.

I would say they would work it out on just the amount they use not the cost of say a 200g jar where the recipe only uses 25grams.

I have wanted to try these types of dinner plans but the fact half the stuff DP or the kids wouldn't eat and then half of them the outlay for the jars/spices/etc is more then the dinner plan quotes or the meat they use is dearer or doesn't look enough.

$68 for a weeks worth of dinners isn't bad, you could probably do that with a combination of their recipes and yours type of thing too.
