He has been taken from an old age home to a detention facility to serve a life sentence for the murders three Dutch civilians.

Absolutely he is a criminal and should be punished, but he's 90! DH has absolutely no sympathy for him and hopes he rots, which is understandable, but I feel sorry for the person he is now.
WDYT? Should there be an age limit for something like this?
He's wheelchair bound and living in an aged care home so it's not like he is out having a grand ole time of it.

So because he's old he should be treated as well as an old person who requires aged care but never, you know, was a Nazi or a murderer? Really?

I don't feel sorry for him. At all. It's a shame he'll see so little time inside. He's getting off light. Which can't really be helped, but basically he wasn't convicted until it barely means anything to him anyway. Why on earth would I feel bad for "who he is now" the long-term got off scot free killer?

I'm not saying he shouldn't be punished, not at all. And I wish he served a much longer sentence. Unfortunately it has taken so long to bring him to justice, but I hope what he did has tormented him all this time. I dunno, I just think of a 90year old man sitting in a gaol cell.

If a cat doesn't like you, then what's wrong with you?
I pretty much agree with La Di Dah.

And? I guess that's the part I'm missing. He had his whole life free and the parts that would have sucked anyway he's going to have to, what, not go out drinking? Hardly any loss of freedom in the big picture, hardly any punishment.

I don't feel bad for him. I can't. I think a last couple years of what, less than fun-filled aged care, is pretty lucky for him and not something to pity.

Yep what la di da said. And shame they couldn't have got him earlier so he'd have had MORE time there!

I don't think anyone should be let off the hook for murder, regardless of their age, ethnicity, religion ....whatever. Particularly when they have murdered civilians.

Rot.

Emperor Palpatine was well old, and that didn't stop Darth Vader throwing the evil old git down a shaft.

Same logic applied here.

He's lucky to have made it to 90, I'll bet his victims didn't.

Well, considering he's getting done for murder, I think you'll win that bet.

Sometimes the wheels of justice turn very slowly.... but at least they turn at all - he can take one for the team at 90, as far as I'm concerned, and I've no compassion for his age - it's a shame so many Nazi criminals went unpunished.
