It looks like Irene is going to be Ok! biggrin.gif

She's unfortunately lost a kidney, but the other is still perfectly functioning so that's good!

I must apologize though, I think I've given the wrong impression of her owners. They're actually really lovely and do care a lot about her. They told me this morning she won't be allowed outside again, which means no more snuggles for me, but at least she will be safe. original.gif

There's a lot of damage to one of her legs, so she won't be able to walk for awhile anyway.

I'm just so relieved she is going to be ok. I didn't sleep a wink last night.

I'm glad to hear she's going to be okay!
I know cat owners need to keep their cats inside at night, but why would they be at fault if she got hit by a car during the day?!
Our adventurous puss was hit by a car once, and was similarly damaged. Fortunately eventually fully recovered (though part cyborg!) after a very large vet bill.
She never got hit again though and we didn't stop her going outside, once she was recovered.

Cats shouldnt roam during the day - they should (like other pets) be confined to their property during the day. This would me.an either keeping them 100% indoors or buildiing an outdoor cat run.

I dont understand the logic of cat people letting their cat out to roam during the day. I mean you dont put your dog out the front door when you leave for the day and let it roam so I cant understand why you would let a cat. Neither know how to cross the road safely and both are annoying to others when they invade their property

Train your dog, it's worth it!
That is terrific news. Well, in the circumstances, anyway.

OP, the owners might be 'lovely', but Irene was roaming and undesexed - and continued to roam after being 'found' (and how did they miss your advertising campaign?). I remain sceptical and cynical about their behaviour - though I daresay their now 'gold plated' investment in the vet's new car might convince them to be more responsible with Irene.

I'd still be trying to convince them to hand her over permanently. ph34r.gif

Because cars drive on the road during the day. Cat crossing the road = flat cat in most cases. Irene is extremely lucky to have survived - as was yours.

The mind boggles at why you would let your cat out at all, given the vet bills you've already paid. Clearly, you didn't learn anything from the experience. I cannot think of anything meaner to an animal than shoving it outdoors to go play in the traffic.

I'm SO glad she is going to be ok!

Perhaps you could offer to pet sit her for them, in your place. Or have her have visits? original.gif
