All I can think of is you must not live ANYWHERE near me.... even the most dedicated nudist would be in three layers of clothing this week!

Depending on the age of the child - being a nudey - in WARM weather - wouldn't surprise me at all... apology? What for?

Because a man saw a penis? A child's penis? I am confused as to what the apology is for?

The kid's around 4, I think. I do think a lift in an apartment building is a public place, it's used by members of the public, isn't it? And I don't think it's appropriate to let your kid be naked in front of strangers. Not because they might be pervs, but because it's a bit strange. I mean, throw a jumper or coat over him, ffs. And just because DH was uncomfortable, doesn't make him a weirdo who's never seen a penis, he just doesn't want to see a mini one in the lift on his way home! Is that too much to ask?

Good grief, the kid is a pre-schooler. Definitely no big deal and most definitely no apology needed.

She doesn't live near me either Countrymel, we had snow on the nearby hills this week.

Anyway, if the child was under 10, I wouldn't bat an eyelid. Probably a poo or vomit incident was to blame for nuding up. My pick would be poo since he was totally nude.

wouldn't bother me - but then I have a DD who loves going nude, and I probably wouldn't have offered an explanation either.

and for a lift in an apartment building - its primarily for residents and their visitors - not open to the public (at least ours isn't and I wouldn't like to live somewhere where it is). I also wouldn't have an issue if the boy was nude on his driveway if he lived in a house.

Besides, I thought general lift etiquette was that you stare straight ahead, which in that case your DH wouldn't have seen anything!

I like cats, but I couldn't eat a whole one.
Agree with PPs. If they're under school age, no apology or explanation is really even required.

Plus, can we please learn to use mortified correctly? One can only be mortified for behaviour over which one can reasonably be expected to have some responsibility for or control over. My children mortify me on a daily basis, anyone else's are unlikely to.

So, you expected the parents to apologise to your husband for HIS inability to cope with a naked child?

This makes me remember the time DH & I were holidaying in Phuket, there was a family there (they were French if that has anything to do with it???) & the two female children were either completely naked around the resort of just wearing bikini bottoms.

It honestly made DH & I rather uncomfortable; they were not young children either but probably around 9-13 yrs old. The most uncomfortable moment was when the family walked straight through the resturant & the mother was topless, the father in the smallest DTs you could imagine & both the girls completley starkers.

In the OPs situation TBH it would only make me uncomfortable if the child was older than say 4 years old.
