Hi All

Was wondering when others have bought a house, how many times did you look at it before auction/purchasing?

brazen boldness
just bought one over the past two weeks - settle in 5 weeks.

We looked at it at two open inspections, within a few days of each other (Sun and Tues). Put an offer in on the Wednesday, then met the agent back there on the next Sun to sign more papers.

So, three times before everything was finalised/cooled off

My first house I looked at twice as the market wasn't urgent at the time. I negotiated on price and signed a contract immediately after the second inspection which was 3 days after the first inspection.

Second house we signed on the spot as we knew we wanted it and there was someone else putting a contract in on it the same day. We simply offered the asking price (which I wouldn't do in today's market) and won the contract. Of course we had building and pest to be satisfied with, but I think when you know it's the one you just know. We knew we had it within 3 hours of walking into it. At the time houses were selling within 24 hour of being on the market and you had to grab what you wanted or miss out.

Looked at it, phoned real estate and made offer on way home. Got home and message on answering machine saying it was accepted.

In contract we noted that we wanted time with a builder prior to settlement to enable us to measure up kitchen etc so we could replace it asap as the one they had i couldn't have lived with.

So I got 2 further views before settlement (with Builder & with Building / Pest).

Once before the offer, and once more before everything went conditional.

We were very lucky and the real estate agent was able to give us the keys and give us time to ourselves to go through the place properly.

We're settling this Wednesday, I have seen the house twice. I also have a copy of the plans.

We didn't look at this house at all before purchasing it. It wasn't even on the market but we had the real estate agent put an offer forward and the previous owners accepted biggrin.gif

I would have looked at this house at least twice before buying. However, it is my childhood home that my parents had only sold four years before we purchased it back so I didn't think there was any point in looking.

Once ! It had been on the market a few days and we were already being 'outbidded'. Paid deposit that day.

We were 18 and had no idea wink.gif

Our first house, we only looked at once, and made an offer that afternoon. After they accepted our offer, we had another look through, just to be sure. That was when the market was crazy though, and you had to make an offer as soon as you knew you wanted it.

Our current house, which we bought at the end of last year, we saw it at the first open home, then organised with the agent to come and see it again during the week. We made an offer the next day, negotiated for a day or two, then firmed up our final offer at the next open house on the weekend.
