My DD1 is really into her skipping with her skipping rope at the moment.

I was skipping with her the other day and told her about a song I used to sing when I was little and skipping.

I can only remember one line of the song. can anyone else remember this song?

You used to sing this song when there was a long skipping rope with two people at each end.

The part of the song I remember is:

I bought a motor car in 1964 and drove it around the coooorner.

When you said corner you would run around one end of the skipping rope and jumped back in to continue jumping.

This is the close. I don't remember the first two lines being this - maybe there is another one like this but the last two I remember now.

The version I remember was a bit like this:

Had a little sports car,
Two-forty-eight,
Ran around the cor-(skipper jumps out, and turners continue the syllable until they reenter)-ner
and SLAMMED on the brakes!
Policeman caught me and put me in jail
All I had was gingerale
How many bottles did I drink?
Goes, 10! 20! 30! 40!

But in suburban Melbourne in the 70s is was definitely the girdle version lol.
