If you were having a little get together at your home for your child's birthday for which a relative had come from interstate would you call it off if that relative came down with gastro overnight since they arrived?

I'm leaning towards YES but just unsure...

Bloody HELL!!!! Already made the cake, bought all the food at the markets - but I would hate myself if my friends children got sick from being in my house!!

WWYD?

If the party had to be in the house, I would cancel. You could make it strictly outdoors if the weather permits or, 'relocate' to a local park.

ETA: if you don't cancel, as a parent of a child coming to your party, I would appreciate a phone call hours beforehand advising that "great Aunty Joan has gastro" and will be in the house. I know it's not the bubonic plague, but you like to leave a party with a lolly bag, not gastro...

Can you isolate the person, don't let them touch any food, and get them to use a separate toilet/bathroom? If not, then I would try to relocate elsewhere.

I would lean toward canceling - mainly because I've had gastro from a very similar situation! Luckily only 1 or 2 of the kids were affected, but about 11 adults got it, including one who was pregnant. It was also the sickest I've ever been from something like that... miserable sad.gif
Good luck with your decision.

I utterly loathe gastro, so I'd cancel. However you could leave it up to the parents. Call tem an tell them what's happened, let them know sick aunt will be in bed and not near the children or food, and let the parents decide if they still want to attend.

Cancel!

You'd feel terrible if you got everyone sick.

The fembos go so overboard.
I would cancel. Once you tell people they most likely won't want to come anyway. Sorry.

Cancel. I missed DD's third birthday party after I came down with gastro. It sucked, and she still talks about mummy not being there, but I would have hated to make anyone else sick.

Definitely cancel. Gastro is more than just an annoyance in some families, it is an emergency. "just gastro" sends one of ours to hospital every time for days.

Are you sure it's gastro and not food poisoning? Similar situation to DD3s 1st birthday but DH had food poisoning
