My children are close and share a room. Most nights they climb into bed together and read a book and fall asleep in the same bed. Usually by morning they have found their way to their own beds.

I have never really thought of it as an issue, but it was recently commented on and I was told it was a bit odd.

Is it?

Mine do, sometimes, in exactly the scenario you describe.

No it's not strange except to people with warped minds who can't understand that physical contact can be about comfort and caring without having any kind of sexual overtones.

No I don't think that is odd, I think that is sweet.

You have clearly done something right if your kids are so close!

Ignore negative comments.

my kids are 10,11,12 and even though they have their own rooms and their own beds ( the older boy has a queen size bed FFS!! Most of the time i go down to wake them in the morning to find them all in the same bed. At the very least in the same room. Either in DS's queen size bed or DD's bunks....

No- happens in this house all the time. I often wake up to find kids in each others beds. It's definately not strange- I think it's nice.

People are weird. It's lovely when siblings share a bed, geez my mother had 9 siblings and they had to share beds as there weren't enough beds in the house! Methinks we over think things in our society at times.

I think it is lovely.

My Mum was one of 8 it was 3 to a bed at her house ALL the time.

She had her first taste of a bed to herself at 11 when she went off to boarding school - however when she would come home in the school holidays it was back to sharing with two of her sisters.

Choosing to share with your sibling when you have a bed of your own is just sweet.
(unless you are one of my nephews who has mastered the 'dutch oven' and hops into his brother's bed for reasons that are not so friendly!)

My kids have been sick recently & so the eldest (young primary aged) has slept in our bed on the nights that it's really bad. The youngest (20 months+) also sleeps in our room in her toddler bed to the side of ours (her room is currently being renovated).

DH & I often have to work after the kids are in bed & so (to sound rather heartless) the constant 'interruptions' from the kids can be a bit irritating.

However we've found that when the youngest (asleep in bed 1st) realises that the eldest is in the same room, she likes to climb up into our bed to sleep snuggled up to him. When this happens we get zero 'interruptions'.

I will admit though that I do kinda feel guilty for using him like this.. but then it's just so cute & adorable. I know they can't do this forever, so we're enjoying it while we can original.gif
