I have a friend who started a new job about three weeks ago and they hate it, lol. They were essentially promised the world and had nothing delivered, so it's fair to say the job hasn't met any expectations. They are yet to be paid because of a stuff up in HR, and there was no apology issued about that either, it was simply a case of suck it up.

Safe to say they are already looking around for another job. My own resignation record is about 6 weeks, and I knew that I wasn't going to be able to deal with the narcissistic person in charge there, so I simply walked out and told them I wasn't going to be returning. I don't think it's a pattern for me as I've lasted in other jobs for years happy.gif

So is 3 weeks of not being happy long enough to think about resignation, or should they give it some more time? I'd love to hear stories of jobs where you knew it wasn't going to work out!

I walked out after 3 hours just last year. Job was supposed to be admin, however it was actually a service technician / boss's adult match making site checker for hot guys he could meet job with a tiny little bit of admin involved.

I was having doubts about the job within 15 minutes. That 3 hours seemed like a lifetime.

blink.gif I don't blame you for leaving that one so fast *LiMa*, that would've made my skin crawl.

One day - signing people up to credit cards in a shopping centre. Thank goodness I did only last one day, as I realise now it was a total scam, I was supposed to be a contractor and I would be paid commission only - $8 per sign up.

Three days - stuffing envelopes. I was temping overseas and thought I could do anything that would bring in the money, but despite having a radio there's only so much sitting in a room on my own stuffing envelopes that I could take.

Until I was 25, I didn't have a job for more than 6 months at a time. In my defence, I was backpacking from 21 and very restless. My current job is my first "proper" job and I'm nearly due long service leave.

At a previous workplace there was the story of the guy who lasted a couple of hours. He went out for lunch and rang from a phone box that he wasn't coming back.

ETA: I lasted one shift at a job, boss was a nutter, didn't go back.

We had someone start at 9am. At 12 noon they went to lunch.

At 1pm we had a call to say that they were not returning.... they were back at their previous job.

I had one job I didn't even turn up for.

I cried the day before about starting there, so didn't.

Just called them in the morning and told them I changed my mind.

So far you win Jam!

Judging by some of these responses, perhaps three weeks is long enough to know you just aren't going to enjoy a job?
