life's learnings never stop...
I've been prescribed betnovate ointment to deal with LS and apparently it's no longer made and only the cream is available. from the googling i've done the cream is not suitable to treat.

i've been going through the public gyno clinic but wasn't going to go back as i was p*ssed off having to wait over an hour for an apmt where no one knows why they're seeing me or what they're supposed to do and have to run off to check with the head dr (who i haven't seen at all) so i have a 2 min apmt that takes about 15 more mins waiting....

anyway i can't get to my next apmt anyway but now that this betnovate prob has happened i'm trying to decide whether to do the clinic one more time or go to my GP armed with info on the new alternative.

any experiences anyone?

PS: does it ever get better or is it just ongoing management? the ointment does make things less painful but i certainly don't feel like "normal" sad.gif

Betnovate 0.05 and 0.1% ointment still seems to be available online.

Stressed....Whose Stressed...Who Said That!
Hi Brazen,

I suffer from LS too sad.gif it's the pits...

I have been using Advantan ointment with great success so far. I used it for the last 4-5 years. Unfortunately you can only get one prescription each time, so a monthly visit to the Drs. But worth it.

I have LS too. I Use advantan and sigmacourt. Diagnosed 18 mths ago after suffering for around 8 years.

Morgans acre -My dermatologist called up and got me an authority script which got me 4 or 5 tubes at once at I think a discount rate. Perhaps you can ask for that.

Brazen - I went to doctor after doctor trying to work out what was going on. So many times diagnosed with thrush or given other anti fungal creams or antibiotics.

It isn't something many doctors seem to know much about.

I've been told I will be need steroid ointments to treat it forever to keep it at bay. I do have the occasional flare up from stress or hormonal.

Just had a miscarriage at 10 weeks and flared after the d & c. Didn't need that.

Feel free to pm me .

Yes I changed my name again!
I used to use dermovate cream strongest one you can get in Australia.
Now I just put up with it as I can't be bothered as it is too hard to find a doctor who knows about it and it is only really bad when I am in the low oestrogen part of the cycle.

It can sting and be uncomfortable while it's actually getting rid of the LS.
Keep going with it and you should see improvement in a week or two.
All the best.
