My poor Kenwood cry1.gif It's 3.5 years old and I just put pizza dough and could clearly see the motor had burnt out. (A plastic smell and smoke).

Are they fixable? It's clearly out of warranty and our house insurance doesn't include fuse insurance. I use it so much and it looks so pretty on the bench! Dough hasn't been a problem in the past. It was a little stiff and I had it on the lowest setting (with the dough hook).

Say goodbye or will it be resurrected?

Mine (breville bfp800) had smoke coming Out of it at Easter whIle I was trying to save time and make a double batch of Hot cross bun dough, I panicked and put it away in a cupboard until I knew what to do.... A few weeks later I tested it before taking it in for repairs and it worked original.gif and has been working perfectly since then.
Have you tried it since the dough incident?

Odds are, its going to cost more to repair than replace (did a quick Google and HN has them for $216 after cashback, so they aren't an expensive machine).

Maybe its a good oportunity to upgrade?

If you let the smoke out of the special smoke keeping box I'm afraid it's all over.....

I haven't sad.gif Smoke + electrical appliances really frighten me. It's just not worth the risk.

As someone else suggested, might be an excuse for an upgrade to a proper Kitchen Aide rolleyes.gif biggrin.gif

Thanks for the replies. I might take it to an electrical repair place and see what they can do. I'm leaning towards it being a throw away item!

Kitchen Aide is for heathens!!

Good Guys had a Mothers Day Special, I bought the Chef Major 770 with 6.7 litre mixing bowl ohmy.gif and it was cheaper than Kitchen Aide and Sunbeams at the time.

The special came with $300 pasta attachments, mincer and blender.

I've also bought the continuous grater/chopper since.

I've made a 12 batch of meringues, in 15 mins and didn't even break a sweat.

I loooooove my KC!!

I think some new models have digital timers for mixing, I told the sales lady that's what my iPhone is for. Gotta actually do some work!
