THE taming of Tony is now well underway. Today Opposition Leader Tony Abbott visited a motorbike showroom and not once did he throw a leg over one of the gleaming beasts.
This is the man who made the macho pose an implement of political campaigning by driving big trucks for the cameras, competing in gruelling athletic tests, manning fire engines and kitting out with the troops in Afghanistan.
But in the middle of gender sensitivities and claims he can't relate to women, the testosterone has been turned down.
"Don't tempt me mate," said Mr Abbott when asked at Robbo's Harley-Davidson in Canberra whether he had a motorcycle licence. "Might be next on my list mate."
On Saturday Mr Abbott went to Derby Day at Melbourne's Flemington - one of the most popular racing days with women - and walked around with his wife Margie and two daughters.
And to rub in his metrosexual transformation, today Mr Abbott ordered a skinny mocha when offered coffee at the motorbike dealership.
