May the cat eat you and the devil eat the cat.
I didn't get to speak to the offending aide but I spoke to another teacher about it and she was livid.

I have a meeting with the Principal next week for a unrelated matter so will bring it up with him.

When I spoke to my 8 year old about it he merely said (with a twinkle in his eye) "Well Mum, I guess she wont be getting any presents from Santa" and carried on about his way.

We then circled the toy catalogues and drafted a letter to Santa original.gif

There ya go, hey? Good good and good to hear.

Jaxon (who turns 9 next week ohmy.gif ) does exactly that too, with great thought. Crystal just goes to make a list and ends up drawing something random instead, lol.

Good for you.

They have their whole lives to be grown ups. As long as they know the truth by high school at the absolute latest, a couple more years believing in the magic of Santa never hurt anyone.

One small slip of the tongue with no lasting consequences but still the Principal needs to be brought into it.

That teacher shortage is starting to make sense.

I so agree. Who the hell would be a teacher?

It's very very important BB, that teachers and principals are exceptionally clear on the matter of the place of Santa in the curriculum, especially with regards to children who are probably only playing along because their parents issue threats of 'if you don't believe you don't receive'.

It is very important to keep up appearances about a matter that the principal, the teachers, the parents and it seems the students ALL know to be untrue lest the mere utterance of the truth strip all the joy and happiness from receiving consumer items carefully circled in a glossy toy catalogue months earlier.

I am sure the principal would be utterly delighted to be given the opportunity to dress down a teachers aide over a matter of such VITAL importance to a child's emotional and spiritual well being. What else are those school principals there for anyway?

PW, I'm glad your son was able to reconcile the slip.

I do agree that taking it to the Principal is probably moot now.... but must the OP be patronised in *another* Santa thread...?

Merry Christmas to all.
