I am bored
I *should* be doing my end-of-month report that is due today. I even got my babies sent to my MIL's to be babysat so I could focus on it. However, I don't feel like it
Instead, I feel like wiling away my time on Angry Birds and EB
I feel like sharing (bragging) about stuff that makes me feel good about myself because I really have no one to share it with- I'm pretty isolated, my sisters are too busy to skype and my dh never listens to me - ok, I'm having a pity party but it's MY procrastinator's pity party and I'll whine cause I want to
So, first off - I have been teaching my maid to read and write. I know, I know - I am pretty spoilt having a maid. But before you crucify me, she's only here for 2 hours a day, 6 days a week - enough time to do my dishes, clean my floors, dust the furniture and clean 1 bathroom (there are 3) a day. All these have to be daily chores because it's so darn dirty here. I remember I could get away with not doing my floors for weeks at a time. Not here. Anywhoo, I digress - actually, I won't call her my 'maid' because I think that's kind of demeaning. She's my FRIEND who cleans for me. I pay her nearly double what the going rates are because she's worth it - she's pretty awesome

So I went and bought some books and a cheap MP3 player to download some music and audio books for her. And told her we would sit for half hour a day to learn to read and write. She got all teary and thanked me and gave me a big hug and told me she loves me

I have to say, that made my day. I told her she's far too clever to be stuck cleaning peoples houses all her life and that I want to train her up and employ her in our company. To see her face light up was the BEST sight. So, I know I can't save the world or educate all the lovely people that have missed out on an education in this country but I can at least help one person (for now - the sky's the limit, isn't it?!) And she's promised to 'pay it forward'. So..... that has made me feel pretty awesome
Another thing to brag about: I cooked a lovely authentic Pepper Beef curry and Rasam (spicy soup) FROM SCRATCH for dinner for a whole bunch of Indians. I tell you, it's intimidating cooking *their* food for them as they are NOT backward in coming forward to let you know how it REALLY tastes LOL But, great news - it was a HIT! yay for me

Our guests were all very impressed that I can get the flavours exactly right. It was a great feeling. And surprisingly easy thanks to my favourite kitchen item: MY PRESSURE COOKER!!! And how can I forget crediting my darling friend who cleans for me, she's been teaching me how to cook local style (she's my secret weapon!).
So, that's my brag for the day. Oh yeah, I am also a thread killer and a thread non-starter. And I feed my kids yoghurt all the time (but not sultanas as I can't be bothered washing them - they come with dust here). And there's a million other things but I can't remember them - oh yeah, I lost a panty liner from my bra once (I use them as nursing pads - far more effective and heaps cheaper than imported nursing pads over here) - do you think that maybe it was the one that ended up having it's own humungous thread? (if you haven't read that thread do a search - it's worth it, I promise you!)
I am now going to post in the never ending thread to kill it
