Whenever apple brings out a new iPhone I read/hear lots of people saying "Now I can buy the previous model at a better price". With the tiny differences in the two models I was planning on buying DH the 4S for Christmas. I'm not prepared to pay $1000 for a phone that DH will probably break after 12 months!!

So I've been looking around for a cheap 4S but I can't find them anywhere! Even on Kogan they are still $600! They've dropped them to $449 in the US, but the apple site here still has them starting at $699!!

So has anyone seen them drop in price anywhere yet?

Well that is the drop in price. When new, they're more expensive than that. The iPhone 4 is $449 at Apple, that's amazingly cheap for a good phone. The 4S is $679 from Apple. Considering the 5 is starting from $799. that's showing you the discount is already applied.

A year ago, I replaced my original iPhone 3G with a new 4S. On checking EBay, I could easily have sold my 3G for $250-300, so they clearly don't get very cheap very quickly.

My local phone shop has them brand new unlocked for around $700 (although that doesn't help you!) and Mobilecity (online) has them for around the mid $600 mark I think..

Turns out it was just a 4 I bought it and then realised that whilst it had come up when I searched for 4S it wasn't!

Anyways Kogan has them for $599 so I'm going to buy one from there I think. It doesn't worry me if it comes with an Australian adaptor, I can't remember the last time I used the normal charger to charge my iPhone! It's always plugged into the computer or on a dock etc.
