Your challenge, ladies, if you choose to accept it...

I have about four months of no classes, and thanks to circumstances I didn't foresee, I'm not working atm either. I can't really take on ongoing work, because I'll need to go back to college come February.

I'm at home with an almost-1-year-old and no reliable care for her, so whatever I do needs to be flexible around that (oh, and DH and I share the one car, and he likes me to let him use it to get to work most days).

I am no domestic goddess. I am going to go batsh*t crazy within the very near future if I'm basically being a SAHM (it's been a week and I'm already in a bad place). I need a project for the summer, and I'm at a loss as to what the hell to do given the constraints I'm dealing with.

Any and all suggestions welcome!

When I was going on a shopping trip to Melbourne I made money by going to garage sales selling goods on eBay. If you can get a car for Sat mornings it is heaps of fun.

Do you have any hobbies that you can indulge?

Do the gardens need replanting?

Do you have any reno's to be done or furniture that needs to be rubbed back and repainted?

What about an online short course? Something thats a cert 2 or similar either in a field that is in line with your career or even just something for the heck of it that might challenge you? What about a language course? Art course etc?

Are you an indoorsy or outdoorsy person? What is summer like where you live?

Thanks for the replies. I wouldn't say I'm an outdoorsy person. Bookworm would be more accurate! (And I'm in Melbourne).

Online short course looks possible...Monash are offering some in writing skills which could be interesting. I'll investigate further.

Hobbies have - for one reason and another - pretty much all fallen by the wayside and would be tricky to resurrect just now. And I'd love to really get into the garden, but I'm afraid of trying to do that with DD in tow. I can see already that she'll spend the whole time trying to eat dirt, bugs, toxic plants...I'd never get anything done!

And there is work that needs doing on the house but I don't have the skill, tbh.

Pish posh and fiddlesticks.

Who cares if the kid eats dirt and bugs. That's what kids do. Let it go.

If you don't have the skill, find a You Tube tutorial. You can learn almost anything on that thing. My DD is constantly You Tubing 'how tos'. I taught myself to sand and paint furniture and a whole host of other things. I had a major fail this week, but a short art course can be fun. I did really like the painting one.

Go swimming. Seriously, take DD swimming to classes or just to play in the water. She's nearly 1!!!! That's the best age! Oh. To have one 1yo and me and all the time in the world again ... *sigh*

Well I have a suggestion for you but you probably won't like it. I finish my exams tomorrow and my house is absolutely disgusting after weeks (months?) of neglect. I will be cleaning spiderwebs off windows and dusting vertical blinds and other exciting, fulfilling projects (after I find the floor, can't see it at the moment). Maybe you could try something like that. Appealing?

Free university courses? I can imagine you don't feel like doing anything too study-like, but there are some which are quite light in subject matter.
