i asked my best friend what she would like for christmas, and she said cook books. no particular cuisine.
so could you give me a list of some of your favourite cookbooks? i'd prefer something that comes hardcover, and looks nice if that makes any sense. sweets or savoury |

Nigel Slater's books are my absolute favourites.
The Kitchen Diaries, vol. I and II are wonderful, as are Tender vol. I (focused on different vegetables) and II (ditto for fruit). Hardcover, beautifully written, good mix of recipes and food writing, lovely pictures. |

My favourite at the moment (and for quite a while) is Claire Robinson's Five Ingredient Fix cookbook. I discovered her on Foxtel when I was BFing DD late at night. All of her recipes use 5 or fewer fresh ingredients and everything I've made has been absolutely delicious! I had to get it from Amazon.

What level of cook is she? Does she like restaurant grade cooking (ie is a chef quality cookbook suitable?) or does she enjoy cooking at home (eg Jamie Oliver style or Nigella Lawson) or does she like all the basics/classics in one book (eg Aust Women's Weekly).

I want Matt Preston's 100 best recipes for myself.
I love cookbooks and will just sit and read them for the sake of it. I love trying out new recipes and I have heard great things about this book! |

She is a qualified chef, but no longer works in that field, but has the skills to create chef quality food.
She has a 9 month old baby, so probably something that won't take all day to prepare. She also loves cooking at home, and trying new and interesting combos of foods etc |

I've got an enormous collection already, and my Christmas wishlist is a mile long. If you don't already, buy them from Book Depository; hardcover cookbooks are so much cheaper there. |
