DH has 2 friends who are his best mates. He has known one since he was 8 and they are like brothers – best men for each other etc. We all flatted together in our early 20s and we are VERY close to him, his wife and their little girl who is 2 months younger than DS. The other guy DH has known since he was 11. They are also very close, were groomsman and each other’s wedding etc etc. We are great friends with him and his wife and they rent our house from us (we live overseas)
At the start of the year the second couple had identical twin girls – they had been trying for a while but had no fertility treatments etc. They were born at 29 weeks and are now thriving – they a beautiful, chubby, happy little girls.
Our other friends have a 5 % chance of conceiving naturally and had their little girl via IVF. After numerous further rounds they told us 3.5 weeks ago that they are now pregnant with number 2. They had their first scan this morning and their Obs says “oh ok - there is the foetus, and there is the other one”. They are pregnant (8 weeks) with identical twins – apparently there was a 2 % chance that the one embryo the implanted would split - and it did!
We are going home this week for a visit and staying half the time with one couple and the other half with the other couple – DH has instructed me not to sit down on any chairs or drink any water – haha! AF is due on Saturday and I am due to POAS on Thursday according to the SMEP which we tried this month for the first time. Seriously what are the chances – we know loads of people with kids and these are the only twins?!?!
(of course I know the chances are about 0.5% or something huge but its still funny to think about!)
