Hi
My DD is 5, closer to 6. She's never been particularly "early" in the case of physical milestones, but she will only go to bed with a pull-up on. More often than not, it's wet in the morning. She rarely wakes up and even more rarely goes to the toilet during the night. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to wean her off the pull-ups? She's my eldest, so I'm not sure what is considered "normal" for nighttime toiletting. Thanks Deb |

My DD was day trained by about 2, but night time has only just happened. It was just like a switched had flicked. Im not sure if she gets up to go to the toilet. I just get her to go to the loo before bed. We also had a great brolly sheet. We got ours from Lorraine Lee linen. Holds 2.5l of fluid.
DD is 8......she's cost me a fortune in pull ups! Encourage her, but don't push it. She'll get it eventually. |

"Normal" is considered any where up to 7. Enuresis clinics (for bedwetting/late TT) will not see you until after that age. Night time dryness is a physiological process requiring a particular hormonal brain pathway to be mature. Basically the body has to concentrate urine over night and also be able to wake itself when the bladder is full. You can do nothing to help this along. There is a hereditory component to it as well.
I have 3 kids. DD1 was out of daytime nappies just before her 2nd birthday, she was just over 7 years old when she became dry at night. DD2 was daytime dry at 2.5 and night time dry less then 2 weeks later. DD3 was daytime dry at 2.5 and is still wet at night at 3.5. It is one of those "wait and see" processes. |
