Our DD1 who is nearly 5 has a turned or lazy eye. We noticed it when she was around age 2 I think and it only really turns when she is tired.
Now that she's a bit older and it's still happening I want to get it fixed for her. I'm just wondering who I should see first about getting it corrected? The doctor or optometrist? Or is there some sort of other specialist? If anyone has gone through this with your own child, I'd love to hear your experience and how fast / slow it was corrected and how it was corrected. TIA |

You should see an opthamologist. I can recommend a good one if you're in Melbourne.

We are in rural WA so the chances of one of them being here are slim!
I may have to start with gp and see where to go from there |

See your GP to get a referral to the ophthalmologist.

A referral for an opthomologist is best that is what we have done with DS, who is younger than your dd. if your in Sydney I can recommend the one we saw.

DD has a lazy eye and is required to wear a patch over her eye for 2 hours a day. it was discovered by our optometrist when she went for a check up, so maybe if you have an optometrist in town you could start there.

try the optometrist first, we lived in kalgoorlie and my DD was seen by an optometrist then we had to go to an opthamologist as she needed glasses she got glasses at 20mths old but had her turn fixed by surgery at 5 as glasses werent working.
