DP and I are ready to discuss a more permanent method of contraception. We have talked about a vasectomy but he is worried it will make sex less pleasurable. Anyone's partner had one? Any anecdata to share?
TIA

I can speak for my husband: a vasectomy only makes the sex BETTER because you have two people who are not worried about an unwanted pregnancy.

It is one of the very best things that we have ever done as a couple (after having our kids, of course) and my husband would definitely say the same.

(note: very important for any man who has had a vasectomy to go through with the follow up appointments to ensure that the pipeline has truly been shut down).

Amen to that! It's a quick procedure which leaves him in a bit of pain for a few days - and then he was fine. Sex was back to normal in a week. For us, it was a no brainer.

I don't mean to hijack the thread but my DH is planning on having it done soon. He wants to know of any negative experiences so he can be mentally prepared for it.

Slight discomfort on the day, but nothing that a bag of frozen peas couldn't solve! wink.gif Oh also, your husband might want to clean up some of his pubic hair (just as if one were getting a c-section).

My husband said that the worst part (only bad part) was the post-op check up, where he had to deliver a sample in a very cold room with very cheesy 80s style porn. Other than that, smooth sailing!

Good luck to all those who are about to be snipped!

I remember reading about a support group online where there is hundreds of men who experience the same problem after a vasectomy. Extreme pain at the moment of orgasim.

I would think its a very tny minority but something you should be aware of and discuss with a dr.

Quick google and I found the site.
