 Sewing machine advice please, In need of a new one |

Long story short, my mother lost the foot and cord for my sewing machine and as I am overdue for a new one anyway she is replacing it for my Christmas present.
The thing is I would like on that can sew leather as now with the baby I don't want to have to sit in the garage to use my industrial one. Any advice please? |

I think this would depend on what sort of leather you want to sew, and whether or not you do it alot. I wouldn't think any standard sewing machine could sew really thick stiff leather like belt leather. Whereas thin and pliable leather for handbags may be okay depending on your machine.
I have a 30 year old singer machine and a janome (no idea how old but maybe 20 or so years). Both of them sew thin leather. But no way would they sew thick leather. Maybe ask at the shop for a demo? I know when I bought my overlocker a few years ago that all the sewing machines could be tried out. |
