I would like to know if any members know what the primary schools are like in byford? We currently live in ferndale but are considering building in byford and if anyone can share their thoughts/ knowledge I'd greatly appreciate it.

HI there it will greatly depend on which part of the suburb you move to...as each school is pretty strictly local intake only. I really only know about Byford PS and I can honestly say that it is a great school...and it is not too big but big enough to have heaps of resources and opportunities for the kids...it has just over 300 kids at present.

Marri Grove PS is currently very big - about 700 odd kids but should go down a bit with the opening of the new school West Byford PS next year.

What part of Byford are you looking at building in?

Thank you for your reply. We were looking at The Glades in Byford, but will happily look at other areas in Byford so we will be in the area near the school we choose for our kids. What is it like living in Byford? We are originally from country NSW and enjoy living here in Perth but we are looking for a nice area for our kids to grow up in and to have a backyard for some fruit and veg. Is there a High school in byford?

Yes the Glades is nice and I think that estate will be in the new school catchment zone...Byford On The Scarp is also a really nice estate with a few more trees and bigger blocks. It is in the Byford PS zone.

Byford is a great suburb...there are 3 daycares in the area, a great recreation centre and tavern, an IGA and some other smaller shops which are great for everyday needs plus a new shopping centre is about to be started to be built which will have a town centre and Coles. The high school is currently being built and will open for its' first students in 2014. There are also heaps of sporting clubs. Plus it is only 7 minutes to Armadale where there are Kmart, Big W, Target, train station into city etc.

People think Byford is a long way from anything but the reality is that it is not...it is close to the freeway, Tonkin Hwy and Canningvale...we love living here!

Currently High School students in the Byford area go to either SJ Grammar (private) or Armadale SHS on South West Hwy. The new Byford HS will be opening in a couple of years, so it will depend on the age of your kids which high school they would attend and which you would want them to attend. Armadale SHS isn't closed boundaries school.
