My mum likes making Christmas stockings for our girls, and has asked for suggestions for our 1 year old DD. I'm struggling to come up with anything, so any suggestions would be much appreciated.

We are getting DD2 some PJ's, a couple of books, some bathers & some of the fisher and price "little people" It's very hard to try and think of things to get them.
We'll also be putting an apple in both of their stockings, it's something my mum always did to us. |

Loads of colorful crinkly wrapping paper! That's all they are interested in at that age
I know that's not the answer you were looking for! |

Ds is 12 months - I wouldn't worry about it but the other kids would notice if he got nothing so he's getting :
sippy cup little plastic bowl with mickey mouse on it (loves MM) plastic spoon and fork first toothbrush play keys box of alphabet letters baby sunscreen (sure he'll love that lol) few other bits and pieces I've collected -can't remember. He's getting books but not in stocking - as a present from us. |

We'll also be putting an apple in both of their stockings, it's something my mum always did to us. As kids , our mum put oranges in our stockings, as that we she got in hers as a child. When I started doing it for our kids, DP was a bit taken aback and started waxing lyrical during Xmas lunch about poverty during my mums generation, and how oranges probably provided much needed nutrition. Mum giggled and told him the oranges were used to fill out the toes of the stocking, and that although very poor they had lots of fruit trees and vegetable gardens He only waxes his nose hairs now. And I put a chocolate orange in his stocking. ETA This post has been edited by gettheetoanunnery: 20/11/2012, 01:40 PM |

My bub was just under 1 yr last xmas.
The hit gift was a box of tissues. I highly recommend this, she loved pulling them out. The other longer lasting gift was a bunch of foam paintbrushes. She spent the next few months painting the outside of the house with water. I don't think anything else she got for christmas was so well used. |

The ABC shop had "Humpty" shakers at the counter - little egg shaped thing for $4.99. Age range said six months plus. DS is getting one. Should fill out the toes of the stocking?!

last year DD was 8 months she got hair clips, little people, a freddo and a few other bits I can't remember.
This year she is going to be 20 months, she's getting a mini sized backpack (she loves DS kindy bag), bathers, a hat, sunnies, drink bottle and probably a kinder suprise finger chocolate and floaty of some kind for the pool. |
