Does your child come back from school and said that she/ he learned a new rude word from friend?
my DS on Y1, come back from school the other day that one of her friend told her a rude word. " S-e-x" she spelled to me. She didn't know the meaning of the word, she just know that is a rude word. I don't know what to explain about this to her. Now because of this, when she heard the Gangnam style song, that mentioned the word " sexy lady", she tought that this is also a rude word because part of it got s-e-x word. so, do you think I should mention it to the teacher or any other suggestion?? |

Sex itself is not a rude word. I would just explain what it meant (assuming that they didn't yet know) and move along. I have had to explain lots of things that my children have heard at school and take it all as a learning opportunity (Taliban, gay, refugees, war, suicide bombers, multiple swear words, and yes, sexy and hot, etc). At no point have I felt the need to involve a teacher.
DS is 7, so a similar age to yours. |

Hi tothebeach,
That's what I thought too, sex is not really a rude word. It's just that her friend said it's a rude word, she took it as it is. Luckily, she haven't heard any swearing word yet. I should explained it to her more... Thanks for clarifying. |

My DS (7) came home last week singing 'sexy lady' . I asked him what sexy meant and he said 'they are a pregnant lady'. Hmm some of the boys he is hanging around with at school are a bit older and more mature.

No - but she reports who used a rude word at school. She never says it but says the first letter. Then tonight she dobbed on me to Daddy and said 'you know Mummy uses rude words all the time such as one starting with C (crap) and one starting with S (stupid)' haha. At least she sees them as bad words... lol
Mummy is in the naughty books though by the looks of it... I think Daddy didn't interpret them as the same C or S words that she really implied... |

I would explain that sex is not a rude word, it it is a word that should only be used at certain times.
