Hi all,

My 5 year old DD has expressed an interest in doing ballet next year. I really don't think that I could cope with an intensive ballet school/concert etc at this stage, especially as she just wants wear the pretty costume and is likely to lose interest after a few weeks anyway

So does anyone know of anywhere low-key in the Morley area? I am considering local YMCA at the moment, but wondering if there are any other options. Happy to travel within a reasonable distance.

Check out Loftus Rec Centre, a couple of dance options and they're not serious at all! Best of all they are pay by the week and no pressure to turn up every week.

I'd avoid Morley Rec OP. I took my DDs there a couple of years ago to try it out and it was a shambles! I didn't want serious classes either, but there really wasn't a whole lot of dancing going on there that I could tell LOL.

Oooh I'm looking for the same thing! I've been thinking Morley Rec too, anyone had recent experience there? We were thinking of doing cheerleading for something different.

We did dancing at Dance Gallery this year. It's been brilliant, but I just don't think we can handle the expense and the time commitment next year. We're in the middle of concert madness at the moment and it's full on.

I thought Generation Dance was another dance school with concerts, etc?

Have you considered calisthenics? It's a combination of march, dance (jazz, character and ballet) and apparatus (clubs and rods). Tinies is 3-5 years and is non-competitive but they do two concerts per year with costumes and makeup (lipstick and glitter only). Music and dance styles are conservative compared to what I've seen from friends' kids dance schools. Put "australian calisthenics" in YouTube.
