Hi All,
I'm hoping some of you with more knowledge than I have can help me. I'm wanting to switch to greener cleaners and personal products and have been looking at Neways stuff but I' wondering if there's anything else out there that doesn't use as many harmful checmicals. Could you please tell me what brands you use for the following: Cleanser Moisturiser Deoderant Washing Powder Dishwashing Powder All Purpose Spray Toilet Cleaner Floor Cleaner Dishwashing Liquid I'm sure there's a ton more! TIA |

I think you could probably do most of that cleaning with bicarb, vinegar, water and elbow grease.
For my personal products I buy organic, sulfate/petro chemical free stuff from the health food store. Try Googling uses for bicarb and vinegar. I also use Earth brand dishwashing detergent for heaps of things. (It's cheap too!) I put a tsp in a spray bottle and fill with water for all purpose spray. My floors get steam cleaned so no detergent there. My toilet just gets wiped down and scrubbed with a little dishwashing detergent. It doesn't smell and I don't lick my toilet seat so see no need for disinfectant unless someone is sick with gastro. |

I just got some Moo Goo face products and they seem really great but a bit early to know just yet. I got them online. Weleda, Dr Hauscka are good but a bit morer expensive.

ENJO doesn't require any "product" for cleaning the bathroom, kitchen, floors etc. The microfibres in the gloves combined with drying the surface off leaves a sparkling surface with less bacteria than a cleaning chemical would.
I was sceptical until I used it at my place, now I would never use anything else. There are videos online showing you how to use it, and experiments that measure the amount of bacteria left on a work surface when using ENJO / chemical / vinegar. ENJO won, hands down. See http://www.enjo.com.au/ If you really do prefer to spray your surfaces, ENJO does a range of non toxic cleaners which are safe for the family and great for the environment. The range is called Method and can be bought online or in IGA stores. The range includes dish washing liquid, laundry liquid, dishwasher tablets, kitchen (all purpose) spray, liquid hand soaps, marble paste (use instead of Jiff or Gumption - its amazing stuff and all natural!), calcium cleaner which is great for getting rid of shower scum build up. There's a product for timber floors which I love, flushable bathroom wipes, a toilet cleaner (not great long term though), I think there is a stainless cleaner. They pretty much have it all covered. See https://www.methodhome.com.au/ That's what I use at home and I love it. When I fell pregnant last year (unplanned), I loved knowing my home was chemical free. |

After I wrote this I did think 'Oh yeah I could make alot of this stuff!'.
HurryUpAlready - I've heard that Method still use some bad chemicals. They still use SLS which is one thing I definately want to steer clear of. http://methodhome.com/support/faqs/ What about bar soaps? |

I use Enjo and marble paste for the bathroom, kitchen surfaces, laundry, etc (basically anywhere that would use all-purpose spray) and Enjo for dusting. I mop the timber floors with vinegar and hot water. I clean windows/mirrors with water spray only.
I do use disinfectant on the toilet, and DS2 told me last week that he loves the smell of pine-o-clean when I had the toilet seat soaking. |

Vinegar and bi-carb or my trusty steam cleaner for the cleaning jobs
For moisturisers, shampoo and conditioner I make it myself. I went along to a tafe afternoon on how to make your own soaps, shampoos and moisturisers and learnt how to make them (sounds scary but it is quite easy when someone shows you) |

The neways deoderant rocks! I have used tons of products, but this one is awesome, so is the toothpaste.
As for cleaning, it is bicarb, eucayptus and vinegar here for 99% of cleaning. It works, it is cheap and no nasties. I use natures organics organics care range for my hair, so cheap and such good ingredients. (I know you didn't ask) Face products, I haven't found a combo that works as well as Natio which has nasties in it. |
