Hi,

as the title states I'm thinking f getting a brnd new discontinued 2011 model i30cw. It's the mid range SLX.



Does anyone have one? Do you think it's a good car?


I like the i30 but this is just a bit bigger. Better for 2 kids (if we have a second!)

My company car which just got upgraded is one of these and I don't really like it

The negatives for me is that the boot space is bad, the radio is crap and the fuel economy isn't as good as my last car.

I had a 2011 Corolla before that which I think was a better car, more boot space and had more grunt.

I love mine ! So does my husband who always makes up excuses to drive it.

Big boot space. Very easy and zippy to drive. Good vision.

I had one as a hire car during the last school holidays and I hated it. I wanted a Corolla.

This is what I wanted when we upgraded the car recently, but it was way too cramped for my DP in both the driver and passenger seat If anyone tall is going to be in the car often then definitely get them to do a test sit

Loved mine in manual Diesel. Found fuel economy good (it gets better after the first 10,000kms). Fit 3 in carseats across the back. Mine was the 2009 model, which I think is the same as the discontinued 2011. DH drives it now and he really likes it too.

The car I'm referring to is a wagon, not sure if those mentioning a corolla were thinking of the hatch. Motor is the same though so your comments about grunt are the same either way.

I've had a Yaris and a corolla in the past and have recently driven the Hyundai i30 (hatch) through the Goget car share program a few times and feel that the Hyundai is MUCH better!

That said its not the the cw, but I would have thought they were comparable. The 130 felt smoother, more ground and heavy (safe) in a good way & a lot larger inside and more luxurious than any if the Toyotas I've driven before. I can't really comment on the fuel economy but the cw wagon in the dark grey/charcoal colour is the exact car I've been telling DH I want when we get pg.

I also like that for a wagon it's not enormous.

DF has a 2009 i30 wagon and I really don't like it. My corolla wagon (2006, they don't make them anymore) is heaps better.

One of the biggest things I dislike about it is we have convertible carseats for both our kids, so newborn-4 years. When rear facing both carseats don't sit properly. The seats (the rear seats of the car) seem to be too low and the tether strap is *just* not long enough to safely keep the carseat in place (it is just a bit too short so pulls the head end of the rear facing seat up just a bit) and we have 2 different seats and both have the same prob, one is a SNS guardian and the other a mothers choice seat.

I have a 2010 i30 hatch so can't comment on the wagon but I love my car- plenty of boot space ,plenty of grunt up some pretty steep hills that I travel ( and I only have the 1.6 litre not the 2.0) good fuel economy , radio /CD player sounds pretty good to me, Bluetooth Connectivity to my iPod, handles really well and really hasn't missed a beat in the 2 years I have owned him! I often transport my tall 9 year old son and his mates about and there seems to be plenty of room for them.
