sanity is over-rated
In light of the other thread... come and share you favorite carol!

In the way of a true carol i have always adored away in a manger....

and more song type would have to be John Lennon's "so this is christmas (was is over)" xmas_cool.gif

eta... because a christmas thread needed a santa smiley! xmas_tongue.gif

Oh Holy Night

And to add an extra spin to a spinny mcspin, my favourite Christmas verse is The Fire at Ross's Farm by Lawson.

As a volunteer firefighter who has experienced a few interesting Christmases, this one has it all, love, grudge, salvation! The final stanzas give me chills:

Then came a cruel gust of wind
And with a fiendish rush
The flames leapt over the narrow path
And lit the fence of brush
"The crop must burn!" the farmer cried
"We cannot save it now"
And down upon the blackened ground
He dashed the ragged bough

But wildly, in a rush of hope
His heart began to beat
For over the crackling fire he heard
The sound of horse's feet
"Here's help at last," young Robert cried
And even as he spoke
The squatter with a dozen men
Came racing through the smoke

Down on the ground the stockmen jumped
And bared each brawny arm
They tore green branches from the trees
And fought for Ross's farm
And when before the gallant band
The beaten flames gave way
Two grimy hands in friendship joined -
And it was Christmas Day.

Mary's Boy Child - just a simple message of the true meaning of Christmas without snowmen, reindeers, Santa and all the other add-ons. Not that I am a Grinch, I love Christmas and Santa and presents and food but for carols I prefer the back-to -basics approach.

I will be still and know you are God.
For a traditional Carol, I love Hark the Herald Angels Sing, for a less traditional song I really Love Mary did you know?

You mean I can only pick one!

As music I love Carol of the Bells

To Sing its a tie between The first Noel and the Virgin Mary had a baby boy

To hear sung Once in Royal Davids City and Joy to the world

And I also love the Halleluja chorus, O little town of Bethlehem and O Come O Ye Faithful (especially my Johnny Cash recording)

Can you tell I like Carols
