So after two bouts of pain in my abdomen, the last being by far the worst. Was in pain from 9pm until about 4am in severe pain, vomiting feeling yucko. I have been diagnosed with gall stones, gall bladder is midly thick. Apparently ive had them for awhile, dr was suprised I didnt know that i had them.
So have to have surgery and have been put on the waiting list of the public health system. What other symptoms did you have if you have it?? I have heard of really bad headaches behind the right side of your head behind your eye, diareah(sp), pain of course, bloating but is there anything else. My liver function came back as very very poor and nearly landed me in hospital. Apparently it should of been at 30% and it was at 90% or something along those lines. I was feeling like death warmed up, and have finally started feeling better. Not 100% yet. Anyone want to share there story? |

My liver function was so bad that I was put on the next level of priority after emergency. I was full of stones, some as large as golfballs.
The only symptoms I experienced were the gallbladder attacks. They were horrible. An intense pain that started off feeling like my bra band was suffocating me, and quickly turned into the worst pain I had ever felt. Worse than giving birth. If you avoid fatty foods, you can hopefully avoid any more attacks. I also found that high sugar foods brought on an attack too, for me. I even tried diet coke, and that too brought on an attack. Best to probably eat as lean, low-fat and as natural as you can. |

Public health? I have been waiting for an appointment to see the doctor to schedule surgery (if they do it) for almost a year.
I recommend rocking up to the ED every time you have an attack, it will be more likey that you'll have to have emergency surgery. Horrid, isn't it? |

Every attack I had, I went to emergency. Even if it doesn't bump you up the line, they can at least give you morphine which stopped the pain. |

Worse pain ever was my gall attacks I feel for you. I never really had any signs bar the actual attacks. I was in private and due to have them out. The week before I got a phone call to say my private health insurance didn't cover it. I was in tears and the day of the meant to be op I had another attack. I actually went months without an attack while on the public waiting list and lost 18kgs as I was eating no fat.
Until one day they started again I was having attacks daily, got so bad drinking only water set off an attack. My last attack was unbearable I couldn't even move. Went to hospital and was admitted. My liver function was bad I was yellow (I had a stone blocked in my duct) had it removed. I had to have a follow up op as when they removed my gall they had to put a stent in and I was told 95% or something like that remove themself but of course mine didn't. I have been fine ever since (besides putting all the weight back on I also found drinking apple cider vinegar stopped the attacks from going on hours and hours. It use to make me vomit but I would have done anything to stop the pain. I searched the net for remediies, can't think of some of the others sorry. |

have been told if i get the pain back severe especially with vomiting im to go to er asap. Cos it can be dangerous if i dont. So im guessing liver function depends on gall stones etc.

Hi mitty82, I had my gall bladder removed nearly 2 years ago, when DD was 5 months old. I was diagnosed after a midnight ambulance trip to ER when DD was about 8 weeks old, in extreme pain. After having lots of tests and speaking to a specialist, I was told it was most likely induced by hormonal changes in pregnancy (as my diet was fine, and I had no other risk factors, and no symptoms prior to pregnancy). In hindsight I had had a few mild attacks during pregnancy, which as a first timer I put down to either extreme heartburn or pain and damage from strong kicks. I even had an attack during labour - I was convinced DD was clawing her way out and up. The specialist said I would need my gall bladder removed before TTC again but that I could give it a few months as the painkillers would interrupt BF, and I'd need to be in hospital overnight. So we waited, but after another really bad attack, we scheduled surgery for when DD was 5 months old. Surgery was fine although the referred pain in my shoulder was unexpected and unpleasant :-(. Nearly 2 years later and I don't miss it at all - haven't had to alter my diet at all (I wasn't / am not a big fatty or rich food eater) and 37 weeks pregnant I haven't had the same bad levels of discomfort this pregnancy so happy with that. Good luck with everything.

I just had my gall bladder removed last Wednesday due to stones. It was the best decision EVER.
I am still recovering from surgery but feel so much better. No more all day nausea and vomiting. No more unbearable pain and headaches. I hope you get it resolved very soon. |

I had no other symptoms other than the attacks - which for me were not text book - the pain felt lower in my stomach. I had two severe attacks and with one ended up in ER.
I had my Gallbladder out just over a year ago and have since had another attack - even without the gallbladder being present! |

So im guessing liver function depends on gall stones etc. All my attacks where in my back. I never had one where they said they should be. I went to hospital 2.5 weeks after getting home from having a c-section (with my first attack) they told me it was from my c-section and bc I was breast feeding they couldn't give me anything and sent me home. Went to my dr and said I think I had a gall attack (mum has had them) and got the scan. Thats how I found out. Didn't know it was dangerous in the back though. |
