Oh my poor ears! Have just come back from the national geographic shop and they were playing The Twelve Days of Christmas (an annoying song at the best of times) but with an Australian theme! ..sung by that highly annoying John Williamson (well it sounded like him...

I have to say...Lamest.Lyrics.Ever. And I can't get it out of my [expletive] head.

...."and an emu up a gum tree...." Arrrrgh

Ooh. I hate Rudolph, Jingle Bells, Jingle Bell Rock, We Wissssssh You a Merry Xmas, Deck the Halls, that one that goes 'Santa Baby...', White Christmas and The Little Drummer Boy.

That's more than I posted in the carols I like thread.

I have been spared this to date....however my oldest is only in kindy so no doubt this joy awaits me at some time in the future. Hopefully I will be deaf by then.

Apart from the ubiquitous '80 s rock band Feed the World style songs, I also hate those renditions of (usually) quite nice carols sung by women who - to quote an article i read the other day- "sound like they've got a pineapple shoved down their throat" ...(Mariah Carey that's a big finger pointed at you...)

Not sure if it's the one you are writing about but we have a version by Dean Martin which is pretty horrific....at one point they have this kid singing and Dean's in the background trying to sound all "aw cute kid" but you can tell he's over it and is thinking "when can we throw this bozo out of the studio and break out the cocaine and the broads ...."

You guys are aiming way too low - I don't think anything can top "Christmas Shoes". (Available on YouTube if you're in any doubt.)
