Stressed....Whose Stressed...Who Said That!
Hi,

This year I have decided to give money to my grandchildren, as I never know what they want, and it's just easier for me. But I don't know how to give it....just in a card or envelope seems so impersonal...

So what ideas can you give me on how to give money?

It has to be cash, not gift cards...as I don't want them locked into a particular store.

Waiting for suggestions.... original.gif

Being a small part Chinese, my relatives have always given me money in the red envelopes. I think they are a symbol of good luck. As a child I loved getting money, it was a great chance to be able to buy exactly what I wanted and made me feel very grown up.

Otherwise, depending on their age and what they are interested in, you could put money around a small item (e.g. I've put money around a small toy car for a child)

I'm sure I have seen people do money trees or flowers with rolled up notes

Westfield voucher which can be used at pretty much any Westfield centre?

I'd go for the cash in a card route personally. It never bothers me how I get cash given to me original.gif

Last year my mum gave the grandkids money. She got it all in dollar coins and blutacked them to the bottom of a smallish gft box and filled the box with lollies.

I have also seen both coins and notes scattered through a bag of lollies.

Personally if I am giving cash for a present I fold the notes and put in a small coloured organza bag from a cheap shop.

This then goes inside a card in an envelope.

Looks great, puffs out envelope nicely so that it looks slightly more than just a card and the recipient ends up with a bag of money!

Thank you for the ideas,

I love the red envelope idea, and the decorating a card using the money as part of the decorations.

The grandchildren are aged 9, 8, 4, 4, 18 months and 18 months.

I will also see if I can fold the money into origami shapes. Not sure how that would work with the almost uncreasable Australian money.

Thank you, any other ideas?

Lynn

You can put the money inside of the piggy bank for each child.

For the younger ones (4,4,18mths & 18mths) I would give them a stack of coins and just one note as my little ones love playing with the coins and get the concept of coins as money rather than notes.

For the older two I would get a few coins and sticky tape them to the inside of the card so it takes them a while to "open" their present and give them more notes.

You could aways buy each of them a money tin that can't be opened (the ones from the cheapie stores) and tape it to the outside with a few coins inside to help start their savings.
