My 9 yr old DD has outgrown the infa vario booster at 135 cm. She is very uncomfortable in it and we can't seem to adjust it so we took it out. Problem is she's too short for the seatbelt and it keeps riding up to her neck. Truth be told I still have that problem at 156cm! Is there anything I can do for her? Is there a seatbelt guide or something? Are those cushion boosters suitable in this instance?

Sns hi liner goes up higher as a full booster.

Autos are seatbelt adjust ( you can purchase on UK eBay) can help adjust the height of the shoulder strap ( if that is the problem) or a half booster may provide the lift needed.

OP I am in the same boat. DD1 is 147cm and nearly 9 yo, and has just outgrown her Hiliner seat. She fits "okay" in the seatbelt, and passes all the other "tests" for sitting on the seat. I have just purchased a seatbelt adjuster (which hasn't arrived yet) but I think I also need a half booster cushion just to get the belt more over the lower part of DD's torso. Where on earth do you find them these days?

I saw some half boosters at the local K Mart recently.

You will probably have to shop around. They are under the 2004 standard approval and not under the 2010 standard approval, so they are 'on their way out' as an option.

my twins have out grown their boosters, they are very tall, so we have just put them in half boosters, do you have a facebook buy swap and sell site? ours were brand new as the person was to scared to use them as they are not in the new standard. They were $5 each I just put a wanted to buy add on the site.

I'm confused. I thought half boosters were unsafe and not to be used. Is seatbelt rubbing less safe than a half booster or better to use it anyway?

Is a half booster just those ones that don't havea back? They don't really look safe to me.

My step son is 9 and still in a booster, he's not short for his age but if he doesn't have the booster the seat belt doesn't sit right on him which isn't safe either. We would consider a seat belt adjuster but as they aren't sold in Australia I would have to wonder of they would meet Australian standards.

Really? My 136cm 6 year old still sits in one with room to spare. My 140cm 8 year old can also still fit. DD3 is in a hybrid infa seat/booster. She is still in 5 pt harness mode and DD1 mentioned the other days that her (DD1's) shoulders are just over the top marker (when she was macking around sitting in it) that means you are too big for the seat.

I would be having another look at the seat or trying her in some others.

What about sitting on normal car seatb(back seat) with H harness.

That's what we've done with our Dd1.

Those booster cushions are illegal now in VIC & don't offer any protection.

Yes, really. She was looking very uncomfortable and scrunched up in it so that's why we took her out of it. We are still investigating putting it back in but if she doesn't fit in it properly, I don't feel like it's safe anyway.
