Good enough reason, though depending on the family you may want to be at the gym to get away from them.
I know all of the gyms I have ever been a member of have let you put memberships on hold and charge a few dollars a week instead of full fee, not sure if you would be able to do it from the start, but it could be worth asking them.
Good luck with it all.

They're actually good, otherwise yeah I see your point!
They actually do this for free I think - not sure if there's a minimum time, but I asked if I went away if I could put it on hold for a couple of weeks and they said yes, so I'll confirm this when I sign up.
And thanks

If there are no specials now - wait - my old gym had the best specials around Xmas and the new year. I loved their buy 3 months / get 3 months free or same for 6 months. Loved it. It had an end date... no harrassing or not being able to stop a membership.
They had them every year.
Definately wait!!!
Wow! That would be good! I can't see them being that generous, but I'll hold off just in case...

Our gym is the same price all year round. I pay $14 a week for gym and pool and no joining fee.
That is cheap! This one will be $19 a week, but it's better than the other ones that I rang in town that were $13 and $16. I'm more inclined to use this one over the cheap one, plus it includes childcare and isn't attached to the local pool so easier to get a locker and the pool is actually clean. But I would much rather pay your $14!
