Hi, I don't know if this is the right place for this thread or not. If not, could someone please move it to the appropriate pigeon hole.

I have a PC that has a mind of its own (I swear, this thing is alive)!!
Last week I put a new thumb drive in the back USB slot to help it go faster (eventually will be XH had done this in the past but the drive stopped working and kept throwing up error messages so I replaced it).
Everything seemed to be fine and the horrible ping notification noise had stopped but then a day or so later my Google Chrome stopped working, as in, it kept crashing even though the program itself was scanned and showed no errors. I did a system restore and viola, Google Chrome worked again.
However, the next day, my Mozilla Thunderbird e-mail program decided it would take over all 'crash' rights and no matter what I do I cannot access the program, or find anything wrong with it. Although it says it is sending error reports to Mozilla, that's not going to do me any good if I can't get into the e-mail account.
I have scanned the program, I have looked at the properties, but as I don't really know what I am looking for, or how to fix it even if I find it, I am stuck.
Does anyone on here know how I can fix it, or where I can find the Idiots Guide to Mozilla Thunderbird for Dummies, because I really, REALLY do not get how things work, and no matter how many times I am told, the instructions don't stick unless I have them written down, step by step (literally - this also applies to anything mechanical, electrical or technological, including mobile 'phones (don't use one), answering machines (don't have one) lap tops/iPad's, etcetera. If it doesn't work when I turn it on, I 'phone someone to get it fixed.
Unfortunately, the only person I know, who understands how truely clueless I am when it comes to all these things, is the above mentioned, eventually will be XH, and I really don't want to call him again about a computer problem. I have, in the past, tried places like Australian Computer Doctors, but they deal with system/virus/spy ware issues and not day to day 'even a child could fix this' problems.
Thank you in advance.
