I am having surgery tomorrow to have a tumor removed. Best case is that it looks benign and is easy to get out and I will stay overnight then recover at home. I can't see that I will have the time to shower in an overnight stay, or is that something they might ask me to do as part of getting me up and about before going home? Just not sure what to take in with me.

I just assume that I will need toiletries and take them with me. Kinda like I am going camping and all the camp place has is water. I find I stress less if I know I have my things with me, even if I dont use them.

Good luck with your Op. I hope everything goes really well for you. Did you get someone to come with you?

Good luck for your surgery OP.

No experience, but my general rule in coping with the difficult or unknown is to prepare myself as much as possible and do as many things to make my life as easy as possible. The more control I have over little things the easier it is for me to go with the flow for the unknown.

For me, I would feel more comfortable taking a bag of toiletries.

My mother will be driving me there but then has to care for the kids so I will be on my own for the stay but at least I know my children are looked after (they arent DH's children and as Ive said he has still offered to care for me and them but I would find that too hard).

Give me my coffee and no one gets hurt!!!
I would take a small bag with toothbrush & paste, hairbrush, deodarant, and small bottle of body wash and shampoo if you have room.

Sometimes the overnight becomes two nights sad.gif and I know I always seem to sweat more in the hospital on the plastic mattresses.

And based on the lack of support you have mentioned previously, I would want to be as prepared as possible.

Also pack a couple of trashy mags as I find the time goes slowly, but I am too groggy/uncomfortable to focus on real reading original.gif

Good luck original.gif

I think you should take toiletries, just in case you need them.

Best of luck with your surgery and recovery.

I just got out of hospital (2 nights - though we had only bargained for one). Take your toiletries. You'll feel a bit more human using your own things, and you may need to stay longer than 1 night, like I did, so you may want a few showers etc. the hospital had soap but other than that I wasn't offered anything so used my stuff.

Oh thats great. Yes, having them looked after properly is the main thing.

I agree with PP. Dont forget your trashy mags etc.

Definately bring them. Even if you don't know if you'll have a shower or not it is pretty gross to not clean your teeth for a night and morning.

Deffo take a small bag of basics. When I had my baby they didn't even offer hand soap or tissues.
