My daughter and I lined up to see Santa today at the hyper dome. We lined up for an hour or so, and when the time arrived we were pushed through without my daughter being able to talk to Santa, it was let's take your photo and Next....my daughter was very unhappy, no chatting to Santa, we were told "not enough time to talk"

And Santa didn't give anything out either. Last year she was give a colouring book, I wasn't happy at all and will never go back their again.

I want to take her elsewhere so she can talk to Santa about what she wants, does anyone have any recommendations?

Santa at the Belconnen Mall was fantastic earlier this week. He had my usually santa shy DD really chatting with him.

I second the Belconnen Mall Santa, we went early on a weekday morning so there was noone else waiting and he was just fantastic. They also give out those Antler headbands and have a colouring in section where the kids can colour while you wait in line.

Thanks for the heads up OP, was going to take DS to Tuggeranong next weekend. He wanted to see him today but the line was soooo long. Last year he was so good, DS was incredibly shy and didn't want his photo taken, but Santa had plenty of time to chat and eventually coaxed a high 5 from him.

The Santa's at DFO are usually pretty good, anyone been out there?

Without sitting and getting an "official" photo Santa is wandering around Target Tuggeranong Sat and Suns 11am - 3pm, you can stop and have a chat and take a pic with your own camera. He has a real beard too and seriously looks the real deal and is a nice guy. So if you just want a chat I reckon he's your guy.

I have to say I would make a complaint to management at the hyperdome about the way it is run.

But I do have to say the Santa at the Belconnen Mall is amazing this year so Lovely and when the child asks for something Santa repeats it Very loud so you can hear. He is so Happy to talk to all the children.

I was at the hyperdome yesterday and the Santa there was fine I took my youngest (6 months) in to try and get her used to santa before we get photos done with her brothers and sisters. They were happy for her to just sit there and talk to santa without getting a photo done - she didnt get offered a gift, but I would not have expected that as she was so young.

I notice you were there on the 1st of December...is that the day Santa arrived at the hyperdome? Maybe they were really busy that day, hence the rushing you through? If there were lots of people in the line (and it sounds like there was is you waited an hour) I can see why they dont want people 'talking' to santa for a long time - but they should have let your daughter talk to him for a minute or so! We normally go there during the day or straight after school and we have never had to wait anywhere near an hour (15 minutes maybe) and have never been told we had to get a photo

I went to Tuggeranong this morning, not intending to see Santa, but we turned up 10 minutes before he started and there was no line so we popped in. He was great!

It took a while to get a good pic, even after 5 ok ones I asked if they could try once more and they were very happy to oblige (got a pearler btw ). I think the key is to avoid when busy, but still I would have been miffed had I been told my children couldn't talk to Santa
