hi all,
just wondering if any of you have experienced double medicating endometrios (?)? i recently went in for a cystectomy and they discovered my 10cm cyst was due to server endo. while they were inside they tried to clean out as much of the endo as possible, some they couldn't remove because it was attacthed to major organs and was just too dangerous. they have told me that they want to double medicate it (because we have finished having our family) so i am back on the pill after 7 years of not being on it. i have to skip the sugar pills for good and i have to have the mirena put in place as well. has anyone else had this done? |

I had that suggested to me as an option, but I was on another medication at the same time and didn't want to be on so many different things. Where are you located? I have had endo for years and know/know of some great drs all about the place if you want a second opinion.
Do you mind me asking what organs were involved? |

hi, i am in brisbane. i am currently going through QEII hospital. the main organ they wouldnt remove it from was the rectum. both my ovaries were adhearded to the pelvic wall as well. the drs have told me if the double meds dont work im looking at a hysterestomy and they will leave my right ovary as it seems ok atm. it is the left ovary that is causing all the problems.

Hi there, I am in a similar position. Have severe endo and am on the pill and have recently had the Mirena inserted. I am pining all my hopes on the Mirena stopping or considerably lessening bleeding so as to keep my endo at bay. I think I will be stopping the pill though in a few months. I hope the use of both works for you too. Endo sucks.

I have had two Mirenas in instead of the pill and Mirena - so I guess this was double medicating.
I'd do a bit of research if i was you as to what the side effects of a double dose of the hormones would do as in the end I had to have them both removed as I was getting all the bad signs of pregnancy (without baby) plus severe hot flushes. But mine is probably a worse case scenario story as I don't react well to any medication which sucks because my endo is very bad at the moment and I also have some mystery infection that keeps coming back. I've been treated for pelvic inflammatory disease 3 times this year plus had a miscarriage and now I've got this infection and the endo flare up. I wish you all the best. |
