We are going camping with a big group for a week just after Christmas. We've all been allocated a day to cook dinner for everyone - 10 adults and 10 kids.

I'd love to offer up a pudding of some sort as well, but will only have a barbecue to cook with. There may be a communal fridge freezer but I don't want to rely on that being an option.

I can't make anything in advance as our night is near the end of the week away!

Does anyone have any brilliant ideas?

Slit bananas open, put chocolate chips, marshmallows, peanut butter in them. Wrap in foil and cook until all gooey, then serve with ice-cream if you have it.

Fruit platter.
Pancakes with tinned berries and optional UHT cream. You can even buy pre made pikelets or pancakes in the supermarket if you are wanting to make things easier. Or you make them at home, freeze and bring along.
No bake slice or balls (condensed milk, biscuits, cocoa etc Plenty of recipes on the net and the kids will love helping out)
Smores.
Chocolate fondue.

I have fond memories as a kid of those tinned chocolate puddings while camping. Not very tasty when eaten at home, but there's something about being outdoors that makes them delicious. However, after Christmas is probably not the weather for it!

How about something with those pre-made meringues or pavlova with tinned fruit? You can even get UHT cream.

As KRT said - those steamed puddings in a can were pretty much an inevitable part of any of my childhood camping trips.

If you have a fire - baked apples (like you would at home wrapped foil and done on the coals) are awesome. Serve with ideal milk or UHT cream. Actually if you have a bbq with a lid you could probably do them in there.
Our childhood staple was tinned guavas or peaches with ideal milk - any normal person probably wouldn't like it! but it's a very evocative meal for me.
Pineapple kebabs on the bbq served with a chocolate sauce (heat some UHT cream then add equal quantities dark chocolate)- throw in some rum (on the pineapple or in the sauce) to make it a bit fancier would probably be what I'd do to impress people.

Stone fruit cut in half, seed removed. Sprinkle with sugar and then caramelise on the bbq. Serve with ice cream if you're able to.

What sort of BBQ do you have? Will you have a camp oven and fire?

Last camping trip, self saucing chocolate puddings were a hit. The kids from a neighboring camp site came over to share too LOL.

I used a recipe from the Australian Women's Weekly so I'm sure you could google the quantities. I pre measured and sifted the dry ingredients into a ziplock bag. Same for the dry sauce ingredients. I measured out the butter into another bag. Some UHT milk in those small cartons (we don't use much milk elsewhere), and some eggs are all that's needed. Mix the pudding in a bowl with a fork or whisk, sprinkle over the sauce ingredients, top with water and bake.

Our BBQ has a hood so we can bake in it easily. I have also used the cam oven which is good because you can put coals on the lid so you get the heat from above too.

If you have a camp fire you can sweet dampers or scones in a camp oven in the coals.
You could also simmer a custard or rice custard using UHT or pwd milk
