Does anyone in EB land know about binoculars? My mum has suggested I get dad a "good set" but I have no idea what I'm looking at. I could only go by 'price is indicative of quality', which isn't necessarily the case.

Can anyone steer me in the right direction?

Try doing a search on google, for binocular reviews, it will give you an idea on what to look for.

You can buy binoculars from places that specialise in cameras. These are the better quality ones, than getting the cheaper brands on the Internet.

Good luck. I love using my Dads binoculars.

Mutlitasking is not doing any of them properly
I don't much about binoculars, but I ordered something from http://www.ozscopes.com.au/ on the weekend and it arrived today so it would be in time for Christmas. They have reviews on their site. I've bought from them before and their service is really good.

Consider what he would use them for. Does he sit on his balcony and watch the dolphins in the bay? Does he go hiking to spot rare birds? The more mobile he is with them the more you would want to take weight and size of binoculars into account.

Get ones with a diopter adjustment so that he can adjust focus individually to compensate for uneven eyesight.

Your best bet is to call someone like OzScopes or Bintel and ask them for recommendations based on the information you give them about your dad.
