I can't decide between a couple of brands - Vision Fitness or Nordic Track.

My two choices have been pretty much narrowed down to these:

One has more bells & whistles but is that at the expense of quality? I don't know. I am able to get the Vision one at cost price (don't ask how wink.gif) so price is very comparable.

I have only used Nordic Track, but have always found them to be excellent. Many gyms stock them, which I guess says something about their durability.

I'd be thinking about costs (and ease of doing) of repairs and maintenance (eg. oiling the belt every 25 km), as this may factor into your choice.

Are you a heavy person? A lot of treadmills will slip if you're heavy and you try to run on them. I'd go for which ever has the wider deck and whichever takes the highest weight.
If you're of average weight the weight restrictions of the machine won't matter as much so go for the wider deck. If you're only planning on ever using it for walking you won't needs bells and whistles anyway so again, go for wider deck.

Yes I'm overweight, hopefully not so much after owning a treadmill.

Both of them say that their weight limit is well above my current weight - one is about 160kg the other about 180kg.

It will have someone running on it, either myself or DH.

Which Nordic Track is it? I just bought the T7.0 and absolutely love it. I was actually talked down from a higher model by the sales staff!

It's very quiet, easy to lift the track up, good features (I don't need a lot of bells and whistles as I only walk), and overall it's a pretty solid machine.

I personally prefer rowing machines to treadmills. Treadmills are so boring. With rowing machines you get a cardio workout as well as muscle development which will in turn burn more fat. Just a thought.


Remember weightloss is 80% diet and 20% exercise so you need to make a change in your eating habits also.

Maybe save your money and follow some HIIT training workouts from youtube?

Thanks for your thoughts Bazinga but I'm looking at a treadmill for a number of reasons and yes of course I'm aware of exercise and diet. I'm not here for general health advice, just treadmill advice. Thank you anyway.

I have the T7 as well and I love it. Although it's collecting dust at the moment thanks to all day morning sickness Just can't bring myself to get back on it for now, but it is a great treadmill.

They both look pretty good, and really, as long as you are keeping it relatively dust free and not using it in a gym environment - ie, going hard at least 12 hours a day, both should stand up to what you want.

They both have similar sized decks, same incline, same sized motor and one goes to 22km the other just under. Both seem to have good cushioning systems. Any chance you can have a run on them both and see which one feels the best and has the easiest to use controls as really the differences now come down to cost and personal choice.
